Summer 2015 Ad PR Elective Course Offerings

Registration open NOW!

Session 1: 6/1 to 6/25

Event Planning; MCA 3741LL (3 cr/3hr) Paula Horri
M-Th 11:30AM-2:05PM
Many students think event planning is just about throwing parties. The reality is that a great event extends the brand reputation and identity. Success is in the details and planning.  This starts in defining clear objectives, knowing what your budget is, and who your audience is and how to amplify the brand throughout the guest experience. Students will learn how to use strategic planning and insights to create, promote and implement a successful event for a variety of key target audiences.

Media Planning: MCA 3681YY (3 cr/3hr) Stacey Ann Effs
M-Th 6PM-8:35 PM
This course is designed to provide a detailed introduction to media planning and the role of media in the overall economy, including media institutions.  Students will learn how to understand and determine markets and target audiences based on media analysis, and will follow a media campaign from start to finish.  At the end of the course students will create and present their own media plan working through the marketing and media strategic process, planning, and cost evaluation.

Session 2:  6/29 – 7/23

Multicultural Marketing Communication: MCA 31567 (Hybrid) 3 cr/3 hr Harris
M-Th 2:30PM-5:05 PM
America is experiencing the most profound demographic changes in a century.  As a result, many marketers are adapting communications plans to take advantage of growing multicultural consumer segments, especially among African American’s, Hispanics and Asians. This class helps students understand how cultural differences impact consumer behavior and apply this learning to the development of communication strategies.
