Dear Sir or Madam,

I am contacting you on behalf of UN Women – the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women. You may know UN Women from our HeForShe campaign and Emma Watson’s women’s rights speech that went viral. UN Women is organizing a March for Gender Equality and Women’s Rights on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2015 and we would like to invite your organization to spread the word and join the march.

Women’s rights will be one of the key issues that will define our generation. From ending violence against women, to getting equal pay for equal work, it is time that we stand up and fight for half of the world’s population. That is exactly what UN Women is trying to do with this march. We expect celebrities such as the Executive Director of UN Women, actress Jennifer Connelly, athletes from the NFL and NBA, and many more to attend.

The march will consist of three main parts:

Part 1—Beginning ceremony at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza at 47th street and 2nd avenue.
Part 2—March from Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to Times Square including singing, dancing, and raising slogans.
Part 3—Closing ceremony at Times Square including remarks from UN Women Executive Director, Dr. Gertrude Mongella, the first lady of New York, the UN Secretary General, and others.

We at UN Women feel that student organizations are key to creating the momentum needed to achieve gender equality. We would be honored if you would join us in this endeavor on March 8th.

We need your help.

Please spread the word about the march to as many people as possible using social media, word of mouth, etc.

Please join the Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1619310604964917 and share with your network.

Additionally, please use #Beijing20 and #genderequalitymarch on twitter, and follow @UN_Women for coverage!

The contact points for the march are Alan Castillo (Alan.Castillo@unwomen.org) and Vierka Vasquez (Vierka.Vasquez@unwomen.org). Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, as we would love to talk to you about your involvement.

We look forward to seeing you at the march!

Best regards,

Alan Castillo

Note:  Please see me after class Monday if you are interested in this exciting opportunity!
Prof. Scott Jackson

Hi all:

The Ad Club of New York just extended its deadline until Feb. 27! for college juniors and seniors
to apply for their great summer internships.  The program runs from June 1-Aug. 7.  Positions are available in Account Management, Creative, Sales, Marketing and Promotions, and Media Planning.

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH STUDENTS, ANNOUNCE IN CLASSES, AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO APPLY NOW!!! ACNY is making a special push to get multicultural students as applicants and has specifically reached out to me to recruit great CCNY Ad PR applicants.
Last year we had two student interns.

Overview:
Companies reserve one internship spot within their company for AD Club interns.  Ad Club screens all the candidates through written essays and phone interviews. Then applications are sent to companies participating in the program.  Examples of past companies who have participated include Initiative, Verizon Wireless, Assembly, Deutsch.

Attached is the application with complete instructions.  Make sure students know the deadline is Feb 27 (not Feb 2, which is on the application).

NOTE: ACNY does not provide housing or cost of living stipends for out-of-state students, but this is a paid opportunity.  Thanks for sharing and for flagging me on any students who you think are outstanding and who you personally are encouraging to apply!

best,
Lynn
