Feb 28 Deadline: LaGrant Foundation Scholarship Application


Prof. Appelbaum is pleased to share the application info the LaGrant Foundation Scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.  Flyers and criteria are attached for both.  Deadline to apply is Feb 28.  We had one winner last year and she’s hoping for a follow up win!  All information is in the attached documents for grad and undergrad.  I've copied the undergrad criteria below.

Students need to graduate within one year of receiving the scholarship in May 2014. That means we should target students who are upper juniors or 1st semester seniors, and all BIC students who meet the criteria.

Students with a competitive 2.7 GPA and evidence of internship / work in communications are encouraged to apply.  Feel free to follow up.  See below for top line info.  All relevant info is in the attached documents.

This is a competitive and highly prestigious scholarship for multicultural students open to the following: 

Undergraduate (current freshmen, sophomores, juniors and non-graduating seniors ONLY!) applicants meeting the following criteria and completing the online application will be considered for The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) scholarship in the amount of $2,500
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Must be a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino or Native American/American Indian
Must be a full-time student at a four-year, accredited institution, carrying a total of 12 units or more per semester/quarter

*Must have a minimum of 2.75 GPA (if you do not meet this requirement, please see the application checklist below)

MUST major in a field of study that has an emphasis in advertising, marketing, public relations or in anthropology, art, communications, English, graphic design, sociology while maintaining a career focus in advertising, marketing or public relations
Must have AT LEAST ONE YEAR to complete his/her degree from the time the scholarships are awarded in May, 2014

Every year The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) gives ethic minority undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to apply for scholarships. Applicants must be pursuing or show interest in a career that has an emphasis in advertising, marketing, or public relations. The scholarships are $2,500 for undergraduate students and $5,000 for graduate students.

-Scholarship winners will receive a trip to Minneapolis where they will participate in career building activities including a welcome dinner with a keynote speaker, two daylong career and professional development workshops and a scholarship & donor recognition reception.

-Applications must be submitted online no later than 11:59p.m. PST on Friday, February 28, 2014. Applications submitted after February 28, 2014 will not be accepted.
