Interested in Health Communications? Sickle Cell Awareness Campaign - CASH PRIZES for WINNING TEAMS !!!

< if you're interested ... reach out to Prof. Appelbaum directly to discuss further >

Hi All:

Here is an incredible opportunity for undergrad Ad PR students to partner with engineering students to develop a campaign to increase public awareness about sickle cell disease.  The competition is being sponsored by NHLBI, The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

I just learned about this, so we need to move quickly!  The Dean of Engineering, Dr. Gilda Barabino, who is has done research in this area will also alert the engineering student of this opportunity.

If you have a go-getter student who is smart and passionate about the power of communications, please have them email me by Dec. 21 to let  me know of their interest.  The bulk of the work will happen in January and February. Deadline to submit campaigns is March 7.

Winning teams can get major cash prizes.

Here's a link to the competition overview.  I know this comes at a busy time in the semester -- but for the right student, this could be an outstanding experience.

Thanks for sharing and encouraging students.

best,
Lynn

Beck Media & Marketing Internship Position
(Spring 2016):
BECK Media is seeking motivated college students with excellent written and oral communication skills for Fall, Spring and Summer internships. Ideal candidates will be in their junior/senior years majoring in Communications/Public Relations, Journalism, or English.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute at the cutting edge of television and technology PR as part of a growing agency serving outstanding b-to-b and consumer-focused clients.

BECK’s program will introduce students to the business of public relations and marketing communications and offer them an opportunity to be involved and trained in daily account activities. Interns are assigned to account teams and will be mentored by supervisors on projects such as creating press lists, drafting pitch letters and releases, event staffing, creating clip reports, and media research. Interns will gain hands-on
experience in media relations, event planning, market research and analysis, community relations, brand strategy and marketing
communications.

We are currently looking for interns for our office in New York City.
Timing is flexible around classes, but we would prefer someone who is able to come in for at least 4 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week. This opportunity is unpaid and you must be able to receive college credit for the internship. If you are interested in interning with us, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your resume, two writing samples and a brief note on why you want to intern with us to
Dianna@beckmedia.comwith
"Beck Media NYC
Spring Internship" in the subject line.

Also,  if you have anyone that could do their internship course during the winter, we’re happy to work with that too. This February we’re working on the press for one of  National Geographic Channel’s shows and could use some help as we plan the press days, pitching, and all that good PR stuff.

Let me know,
Dianna
